On Saturday, December 3, with a wind chill of 24 degrees, a group of Mason Dixon members participated in the Souderton, Pennsylvania Holiday Parade. We had a team of 8 riders - Karen Basehore, Nick Burgos, Diane Dutt, Sarah Galante, Sandy Madeira, Maryan Schlesman, Kelly Schrader and B.J. Schuler. Our banner carriers were Darnell and Raymond Williams. We rode to the start of the parade from Hillside Farm and were the 9th group to start down the hill on Main Street. The parade seemed well attended despite the cold weather. We had lots of inquiries about the horses and we heard many compliments along the way about our dancing horses. We all had matching white saddle pads with sequined Christmas decorations on each side (thanks to Diane Dutt) and we all wore red jackets, except Nick who wore a red scarf (of course he always has to be different). As our first parade together, all the horses performed very well. We started small but our goal is the Puerto Rican Day Parade on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City. Imagine how that would sound!
