PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE - July - August 2007

It is hard to believe that the 4th of July has just passed!!!! It seems like we were just at Lexington last weekend.....Time is flying!

A huge thank you goes out to BJ Schuler for managing the Lexington Show and making it a success! Despite the numbers being down a few from last year BJ has done a wonderful job growing this show and making it fun. I have gotten a lot of good feedback from members of other regions and they love to come to our show. From what I have been hearing the trend for most of the shows this year are that numbers are down some.

Besides thanking BJ, I would like to thank all of the volunteers who helped with the organizing and running the show. Without you we could not be successful!!

I have had an opportunity to review some of the bio spots that Virginia will be putting in this issue of the Glide and I am really happy to see the great response she has gotten from her idea. Her other idea of sending the Glide on a CD for those members that are unable to download is another good one. It will give members a chance to view the Glide with all of the pics in color instead of black and white and save on postage and maybe even a few trees.

It is unfortunate that the PFHA World magazine is suffering several bumps in the road right now but I do believe that they are diligently trying to correct the problems and get back on track. In the meantime, we as a Region need to keep going and communicating and the Glide is a great tool for that.

I think that people need to realize that these problems being realized in the PFHA today, have not just happened over a short period of time but are an accumulative result. We need to continue to support the efforts of those individuals who are trying to improve and correct these problems.

The next regional activity is the Howard County Fun Show on Monday, August 6, 2007. This show is a great venue to show off our Pasos to the public and to have fun!! There have been some fun classes added to show off the versatility of our horses. We do have our own ring and show again this year. Mark your calendars and plan to attend!!!!

There will be an overnight trail ride at Fair Hill in October. There will be more details coming as they become available.

Enjoy the summer with your Pasos!!

Lisa
