PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE - May - Jun, 2007
It is hard to believe that it is already the end of May, where does the time go! There have been lots of activities over the past couple of months and many thanks goes out to all of the organizers and members who volunteered to make the activities a success!!
In April the clinic in Delaware with Carlos Tobon was a huge success!! Thanks to Cecilia Uhlmann for chairing this activity and making it better and more successful then last years. Mark your 2008 to do list for the clinic next year.
The May Day Show had a great turn out with just about the same as last year. I hope everyone enjoyed the barn party after the show on Saturday night and the extracurricular activity with the ball. We will not mention any names but I believe someone got a really sore rump from an untimely dismount!!! I wonder who that was? Shame the photographer wasn't there. A special thanks, to everyone who volunteered their time at the show to make it fun and enjoyable!!! The Diamond 7 has been reserved for the same weekend next year.
The next big event is our Lexington Show and trail ride and I hope everyone will try to come and have fun!
For the silent auction we are still in need of items. It does not have to be horsey related, it can be crafts, gift certificates to a restaurant, gardening items, etc. The money that we make from this show funds just about all of the activities that we do during the year, so please show your support! If you are not coming to the show and have auction items contact myself or BJ Schuler, and we can let you know who in your area will be coming to the show that you can drop off the item(s) to them. Lets make this the biggest auction ever!!!!!!!
The Gaited Classic Fun Show at the Howard County Fair will be on Monday, August 6, 2007 and we will have our own separate show again. Keith Dane will be judging this show. There have been fun classes added to spice up the mid-day!! This show is a great show to have fun, relax, school your horses and yourself and spend time with fellow members! The Fair Association should be sending out the premium list and entry forms within the next month.
I would like to remind everyone to take the time and complete the high point award forms for the pleasure activities that they do with their horses. The points not only are for organized, competitive or judged trail rides but for parades, demonstrations which would include the horse expos, demos done for a 4-H group, FFA or an individual that may visit your farm to learn about and test ride a Paso. Lets get competitive in this category and give out more of these awards at the annual banquet in November! The deadline for sending in your forms is September 15, 2007 and the new 2008 program starts on September 16, 2007!!
For the high point show division, forms do not need to be completed, the results are obtained from the show secretary.
Another great program to utilize is the Trail Blazers program where you log your hours for all trail riding time and receive awards for the various benchmark hours achieved. Susan Data-Samtak is the contact for this program PasoVasz@aol.com.
Enjoy the upcoming events and your mount!!!
